Cigar Brand Spotlight: Arturo Fuente

Arturo Fuente is a legendary cigar brand known for its high quality cigar products. Arturo Fuente Sr. immigrated to Florida from Cuba and founded A. Fuente & Company in 1912 when he was only 24 years old. Although Arturo experienced significant setbacks, including a tragic fire that destroyed his company's factory in 1924, he worked tirelessly to build a brand that cigar lovers would soon begin to recognize around the world. 

Eventually Arturo's youngest son Carlos Fuente Sr. took over the business in 1958 after he retired. This was during a complicated time to run a cigar business in the United States due to the Cuban embargo in the 1960s. While many competitors went out of business, the Arturo Fuente company survived and thrived since Carlos Fuente Sr. anticipated the government regulations and purchased a three year supply of Cuban tobacco ahead of time. He continued to create innovative cigar products over the years and eventually released one of the first handmade cigars without Cuban tobacco in 1966.

Today the Arturo Fuente name is famous in the cigar industry for its hand-rolled premium cigars. Cigar Afficianado celebrated the company's 100th anniversary and rich historical legacy by featuring Carlos Fuente Jr and Sr. on their cover in 2012. The company is still family owned and operated to this day.
