El Baton
The El Baton by J.C. Newman is back with an updated blend and new packaging! The El Baton is one of the company’s few Nicaraguan puros (next to the Brick House), though the new blend features more strength than the original. As far as the packaging goes, the logo, new fonts and color scheme have all been modified. The El Baton is one of the company’s oldest brands, tracing its roots back to 1914 when it was created by Julius Caesar Newman, the company’s founder, at the company’s former factory in Cleveland, Ohio. Originally containing Cuban tobacco; the line was brought back as a Nicaraguan puro in 2008 by Eric and Bobby Newman, grandsons of Julius Caesar Newman. Drew Newman, owner of J.C. Newman Cigar Co. said in a press release concerning the El Baton, “As I was unsatisfied, I decided to tweak the El Baton blend and return to more of a traditional style of packaging that better reflects the century-old history of this my great-grandfather’s old cigar brand.” The El Baton is available in 25-count boxes and three sizes here at Corona Cigar Co.: Belicoso (5 x 56), Double Toro (6 x 60) and Robusto (5 x 54).
